Borderlands: Post-communism at the Limits of Europe aims to explore the mexperiences of these European ‘others’ and ponder their possibilities for substantive democratization and durable change both in the immediate future and beyond. The film, Ca La Moldova, serves as an introduction to a broader discussion and debate with panelists from academia and civil society who address the challenges and obstacles Moldova and others in the borderlands region face as they move forward, including issues of migration and borders (spatial, temporal, political); the East/West divide and alternatives to these dominant paradigms; benefits and limitations of European integration; and the potential or limits of the liberal democratic model for borderlands region states.
